He stayed with the Ten Kate team for the 2008 season, taking wins at Brno, Brands Hatch and Vallelunga, finishing second in the championship.

In 2009 he made the jump up to WSBK with Ten Kate, winning twice at Assen and once at Brno and the Nürburgring to finish fifth overall in the rider standings. Jonathan took four race wins and ten podiums in 2010 to finish fourth in the championship in 2010, and 2011 saw him win at Imola, Assen and Donington Park as he rode his way to fifth overall in the final standings.

2014 saw Jonathan win another four races, including a double at Imola, as well as five more podium places, all of which secured third place in the championship.

The following season saw Jonathan make the move to the factory-backed Kawasaki Racing Team. He promptly won the first race of the season at Phillip Island and then enjoyed an incredible run of success, taking his first world title with 14 wins and 23 podiums on his way to a 548-points haul.
