He continued racing for the same team in 2013 and the continuity paid dividends, he enjoyed six race wins, eight pole positions and 14 podium finishes as he finished runner-up in the championship, missing out on the title by just 12 points.
The following year saw Alex take four pole positions, two race wins and eight podiums, a tally which would see him secure third place in the riders’ standings.
Alex made the step up to Moto2 in 2015 riding for the Paginas Amarillas HP40 team. The move was a successful one; Alex took two race wins and 10 podiums on his way to a second-place finish in the championship.
He further cemented his reputation as one of the sport’s rising stars in 2016, winning two races and adding another pole position and seven podiums to his name as he clinched third in the overall standings.
Alex made the jump to MotoGP in the 2017, racing for the factory Suzuki squad. The 2018 season saw Alex announce his arrival in premier class racing as he took three second-place finishes and two third-place finishes on his way to fifth in the overall standings
